This image of a cake being cut was actually not setup. It was shot as a candid moment while celebrating my Grandfathers birthday. Lighting was very dim in the restaurant, so to get the nice soft lighting needed on this shot I bounced my Canon 420EX speedlite off of the ceiling. My Canon 28-105 USM lens was used at F4.0 to provide the shallow depth of field providing some movement to this still life shot.
